Monday Roll Call

Good Morning - Everyone must have decided to sleep in!  It's 9am and no one has posted roll call.  What's up w/ that?

Well, I don't want to bore you with my saga but will say that I did have a safe trip to and from MD.  Calvin and I are both home safe.  As far as Amanda goes, she is still in MD.  Apparently one of her Aunts was able to get temp custody and we are not allowed to legally remove her from the state.  I know this sounds bad but I'm tired of fighting and blowing the money right out of the water.  Calvin has a court date on Sept 28th but by then, Amanda will already be in school and seven months before her 18th birthday.  It's a loosing battle.  The aunt keeps throwing around the word emansipated too.  Then do it!  We are up against a wall, have done all we can do and mus****ch the chips fall where they may. Calvin is so heart broken and I'm just helpless.  I can't seem to say aything to make it better.  I just hope in time, Amanda will see that we did try to do the right things.  Right now she is only listening to what this Aunt is telling her.  Mind you, this is the Aunt that originally contacted us and told us we needed to bring her back to IL with us.   I hope everyone has a great week.  I'm ready for the weekend.    I really need a nap! Hi Karen - Calvin is doing a little bit better everyday.  I'm still changing the dressing twice a day and probably will be doing that for a couple months.  It's looking much better and the doctors are pleased with the healing process.  He got to take a bath last night for the first time and he was on cloud nine.  A little rough getting back out of the tub but he managed with a little help from me.  Thanks for asking. Who has time for a nap??  I'm at work but do plan on hitting the bed early tonight. Have you finished up your realestate classes?  What's next? Take care, Christina

I finished up the class, I just have to go take the state test now. I think I will try and get that done before I go back to the bus. School starts here Aug.27 and I want to save my time off to go to support meetings. Glad DH is doing better. Karen

Good morning all, I didn't get much sleep; my hubby is an truck driver and he was going to be in the area so I waited up for him. Needless to say he didn't get home until 6am and now I'm waiting on the plumber to scope my pipes. Hope everyone had a good weekend.  Christina, I'm sorry for what you are going through; I know it's hard; I am a divorcee and my ex is a big jerk and my kids don't want anything to do with him (long story) but they are 12 &14 and we can't wait until they are 18 so my hubby can adopt them.  Hope everyone has a safe Monday.

Hi Melissa - Thanks for your post.  Things seem to always have a way of working themselves out.  I've turned it over, it's out of my control. Ouch!  Plumber, scoping pipes.. sounds like a costly repair.  I hope I'm wrong. Glad  you got to spend a little bit of time with your hubby.  I know there are a lot of wives out there that have husbands that are truckers but man.. It has to be difficult expecially when you have kids involved.  I commend you for keeping it all together. Have a great day. Christina

Christina, I am so sorry that things didn't work out for you and Calvin this weekend. I know you are trying to do the right thing for your step daughter.

I am also at work this morning. I have been cut down to 2 days a wee****il 9/1. That is ok, since I normally do not work summers anyway.

We had an enjoyable weekend. We went to stock car races on Saturday night, then Arlington Park yesterday.
Next weekend its back to normal with DH working as usual.

Please, everyone, be careful in this heat. We don't need anyone getting heat stroke.

Christina, I am so sorry things didnt go your way in MD with Amanda. Things will look up youll see. My prayers are with you. I interviewed for a ER registration job at the hospital today. I hope and pray I get the job. It is right up my alley. I have 25 years exp. doing this kind of work.  I am getting more things put away slowly. I fly to Chicago on Wednesday to see my new baby. I cant wait to hold him in my arms. It is hot here and I need to Empty out the RV but Ill wait till tonight when it is cooler out. Carla 

Hello Illinois! Christina, sorry to hear things did not go as planned, but you have done it all.  You are right to give it over to the higher power and hope for the best.  I do hope Calvin can see that in time, you really did your best and that is what counts. Melissa, I would LOVE to only work 2 days a week....Summer especially, but I could do it in other seasons too! Carla, hope you get the job! As for me, I am working today, and here at work is the only place I will be able to check the boards because my home computer wa**** with a virus on Saturday.  (Right after the kids were on it.....)  I have my computer-geek neighbor working on it, but I do not know how long it will be before I get it back. Our weekend was fun, taking care of Miss Riley.  She was with us from Friday night until after dinner yesterday.  We had an impromptu barbeque yesterday to get together and clean out one of the neighbors' gardens.  We all now have LOTS of veggies.  I wish I knew how to can stuff, but I will just have to blanch and feeze. That's about it for now.....I will post that really good chicken-zuchinni recipe when I get a chance.
